Adventures in Morocco

Please see attached a few pictures of my recent trip to Morocco with Wheels of Morocco.  I went quite early in the year and the weather was interesting! Some days I was wearing three to four layers and others sweating like a pig! Flying Gatwick to Casablanca on a Friday, I met Greg who owns Wheels of Morocco with his wife Viki.

Heading from Casablanca on a pristine and well-maintained BMW 1200 triple black GS, we headed east to Azrou then down to Mazouga, Ouazazate, Dades Valley, across to Marakesh then back to Casablanca. It was a good mix of on and off-road riding, some very challenging, including a section of road washed out by heavy rain (it took three hours to do 12 miles!) I enjoyed it so much, I’m heading back in May and October to try the Challenging Roads trip.

Missing base layer

The March/April ABR article on base layers was most informative but one significant brand seemed to be overlooked. Was there a reason not to review Icebreaker’s base layers which, in my opinion, are the best base layers available.

I have used these merino wool items for nearly 10 years now and, apart from motorcycling, this kit has kept me warm when yacht racing across the Southern and Pacific Oceans and walking to the top of Kilimanjaro (in a kilt). It remained stink free even after more than three weeks of continued wearing, and is quick-drying too. So there you have it, an ad for Icebreaker, I don’t work for them but their kit certainly works for me.

10th-anniversary photo request

This is sort of a random request. It’s my husband and mine’s 10-year wedding anniversary in October. I came across this awesome idea to have people around the world take a photo while holding a note in various locations. For example – while taking a picture of an adventure bike by a mountain, hold up a note in the corner of the picture that says: “Travis – Sam’s love for you is so big it has reached the UK! Happy 10-year Anniversary!” I was wondering if you could take a photo for me with a note? We’re in Virginia, USA and I’m hoping to get pics from all states and as many countries as possible. My husband has a BMW R1200GS and loves motorcycles. I was hoping to get some pics with bikes or riding-related items. Thanks so much!

Sam

Bryn: What a brilliant idea! I’m going to Morocco in May, Europe in June and will be riding all over the UK before September, and I’d be delighted to grab some images for you! ABR readers – can you help make Travis and Sam’s 10th anniversary as special as possible by taking a picture of your bike and a note saying “Travis – Sam’s love for you is so big it has reached (wherever you are taking your picture)! Happy 10-year Anniversary!”? If you want to be part of this fantastic occasion, email your pictures to me at bryn@adventurebikerider.com and I’ll make sure Sam receives them all before the big day.
