■ Current bike?
2014 BMW R1200GS.

Norton featherbed framed, Triumph 650 engine, off-road special (I can picture it in my mind).
■ Ferry or Tunnel?
Ferry. I love the bustle, and they have bars.

My Shoei Neotec helmet. It’s fantastically comfortable, will take goggles and has flip up for easy chats with strangers.
■ Life long ambition?
To tour with my wife. I live in hope.
■ Ideal travel partner?
My three mates Keith, Andrew and Richard. We all finished the Gibraltar Race together in 2017.

An off-road spill in Italy when I did my best Superman impression over the handlebars after hitting a big hole in the trail… Which I should have seen.
■ Most memorable moment?
An evening of drinks and a barbecue hosted by the Gibraltar Motorcycle Club at their clubhouse, and seeing their collection of bikes.
■ What do you miss most when travelling?
No doubt about this – my wife and two daughters who I miss from the day I leave. And Rambo, my dog ‘with issues’.
■ Person you would most like to meet and what question would you ask them?
Wilfred Thesiger – the coolest traveller and author from a bygone era. I would have loved to have met him when he was alive and asked him about his fascinating life.
■ FAVOURITE CRAP JOKE?
What’s brown and sticky? A stick
