TomTom introduce a protection plan for their products

If you’re religiously old school, you might still rely on map reading to get around. The rest of us, however, have invested in a Sat Nav to help navigate while out on two wheels. This month, TomTom announced the introduction of a protection plan for owners of its navigation devices.

The protection plan, called TomTom Extra, starts at £8.99 and has been developed to protect purchases from unexpected events.

The service might prove useful for adventure bike riders, where there’s a high chance the Sat Nav will get bashed about as well as the all-too-common setbacks of damage, loss or theft when touring.

Currently, the service is only available in the UK and is offered in two service levels: TomTom Extra Care and TomTom Extra Care Plus. The services allow riders to protect a TomTom device from accidental damage, theft and loss and offers a replacement device if it’s been lost or stolen.
