Yamaha reveals rally-ready Ténéré 700 prototype at EICMA

If you like your Ténéré 700 served with a large helping of off-road adventure, then you’ll love the new prototype Yamaha has just revealed.

Taking advantage of the hype surrounding the 2021 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, the Japanese manufacturer has given us a glimpse at a rally-ready, Ténéré 700 prototype known as the Raid, and it looks awesome.

So, what’s it all about?

One thing’s clear, Yamaha has designed this prototype to take on desert rallies, and win, with the teaser that it’ll soon be ‘racing for the next horizon’.

To make this dream possible, it seems the brand has taken pretty much its entire catalogue of extra performance parts and created a beast.

The suspension has been updated, bringing travel up 60mm at both ends (270mm front and 260mm rear).

To cope with the sweltering desert heat, there’s a new oversized radiator, oil cooler, airbox and filter. On top of that there’s also an aftermarket Akrapovic exhaust system.

A new, more aggressive look

And, of course, there’s the new rally-ready look.

We’re huge fans of the mean custom paint job, but there’s also a front and rear dual fuel tank that gives the Ténéré 700 a beefier look, alongside a bench seat, rally screen, and even a road book setup above the handlebars.

This is a bike that means business, and then some.

There’s no word yet on if a version of the Raid prototype will ever hit showrooms for the public to buy, but we can’t wait to see it in action in rally races in the near future.
