Following the incredible success of our first ABR Night in Stratford-upon-Avon in May this year, ABRs everywhere are gearing up for ABR Nights 2 which promises to be an equally exhilarating and thoroughly entertaining evening.
On Tuesday 12 June 2012, veteran overlander and best-selling author Sam Manicom will take to the stage at the Riverbank Restaurant and Bar, Stratford-upon- Avon, (formerly 'The Ripple'), to share his pearls of wisdom gleaned on a12-month bike trip which turned into an eight-year adventure. He will be joined by our second speaker, adventure rider and self-confessed ‘Leprechaun’ Norman Magowan who will be telling us about his amazing 35,500-mile ride through the Americas.

When two ABR’s-Jason Clive and Dave Hobin-had a chance meeting on the forecourt of a petrol station, little did they know it would develop into a business partnership. As they stood gassing at the garage they both agreed that long distance adventuring would be so much more enjoyable if they had a cruise control, that wasn’t going to cost in the region of £1000 (for the electronic version), and would take the strain out of the constant grip endured by the throttle hand. It led to them inventing a gadget that they felt could be so useful that they would soon be talking to a manufacturing company about getting it into production.

There's just three weeks remaining for UK GS riders to sign up for the 2012 BMW GS Trophy qualifiers, taking place 18-20 May at the East of England Showground, Peterborough.
Only a handful of places remain in the qualifiers, which will see competitors battle it out over a range of off-road challenges set by veteran Dakar rider and BMW Off Road Skills chief instructor Simon Pavey. Interested ABRs are advised to book their place as soon as possible at http://www.offroadskills.com/uk-gs-trophy-qualifier-regulations.

$20 AUS (approx. £13.00) plus shipping
How often have you had to carry your helmet around with you and wished you could have left it secured to the bike. I know I do, especially on a ferry, when you are lugging other stuff around; the added encumbrance of a lid is the last thing I want.
Well thanks to this little Aussie invention your lid lugging days could soon be over!

An ABR from London is currently embarking on an epic 20,000-mile trip across the Americas on his trusty 1986 Yamaha XT600 Tenere.
Setting off from Punta Arenas in Chile, A C Gaskell, or 'AC', as he's known to friends, is riding the classic Yamaha adventurer through every country in South and North America before he finally reaches the north coast of Alaska in late June. AC has previously undertaken two major motorcycle journeys so far from London-Capetown and Central Asia-London.
ABRS can keep up to date with AC's progress at www.acutrac.co.uk. |
