If you manage to read this book without becoming emotionaly attached then you probably need to check in with the funeral directors. This book is a man journey through africa the hard way. Having had his world shattered when the one he most loved dies in his arms suddenly. The story chops and changes from his journey to moments past when he relives his relationship with melanie and the hope of one day being a famous musician. In short this is a look at a broken mans journey back to the land of the living. User reviewsAverage user rating from: 1 user(s)Running with the moon0 of 0 people found the following review helpful

Absolutely agree -- brilliant book, highly engaging.
I also read Bealby's other books, 'Silk Road, Troubled Dreams' and 'For a Pagan Song: In the Footsteps of the Man Who Would Be King -- Travels in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan' but was much less enarmoured of them. He seemed to be trying to make a virtue out of being ill-prepared and oft times downright contrary. But maybe that is just me being curmudgeonly. Write commentThis content has been locked.
