I have long considered what bike to buy for a great adventure riding.

I had both 1200 GS and KTM 990 ADV on the shortlist; however the unusual looks and high-value components (as standard) made the difference. The bike is simply great – Marzocchi/ Ohlins suspension, Excel wheels, Brembo brakes and a high-performing V2 engine with anti-hopping clutch as standard (no ABS though). The quality of workmanship (frame, whole assembly, plastic parts, …) is really high-quality.
Even though the bike seems to be an exotic – majority of spare parts are available from standard manufacturers.
I finally bought the bike in 2010 and have made some 10.000 km on it already. Majority of it was done on various-quality tarmac (from highway quality to potholes-road ). The bike performed excellently, smoothing out all bumps and holes – the suspension makes a big difference. You can ride in 1st gear in difficult terrain, but also ride 210 km/h without any problems on the highway.
I have also done some off-roading in Albania and the bike still performed great. One word of advice – if you are not at least 6 ft. tall, do not try to ride it off-road. The bike is very tall (87 cm seat height) and you might need to touch the ground with your feet in heavy terrain .

I will repeat myself –the bike is simply great and highly recommend it to anyone, who wants just something different.
