Polish-born rider Andrzej Woynarowski is about to depart on an 80,000 mile tour of the globe on his Suzuki DL650 Vstrom and his wife will be keeping him company as pillion. The pair are holding their leaving party in Scotland, where they both now live, this weekend before setting off on the journey of a life time in the hope of finding a new job and new home and a new adventure.
“My passion for motorcycle travelling is almost as big as my nose,” said Woynarowski. He is about to allow this passion to change his life completely. The 27-year-old civil engineer has been living and working in Scotland for the past four years and saving for a mortgage and everything that comes with that. But in a fateful phone call to his wife Gosia a year ago Woynarowski told her he had another idea for how to spend their savings: a three year round the world motorcycle ride.

Two French adventure bikers have made it to Ethiopia on their one-year round the world journey. The milestone means they have made it through the notorious boarder crossings in Egypt, cleared Sudan and ploughed on into Ethiopia.
The pair set off from Toulouse in France on 6th June to undertake the 55,000km ride. Riding their KTM 990 Adventures they journeyed through France, took the ferry to Tunisia, rode on to Lybia, then Egypt, through Sudan and into Ethiopia. The pair known as Aurel and ChevalierNoir will continue round Africa before heading for South America by plane, ride to North America and back home to France.

Thirty-one-year-old Dave Guezuraga is leaving his home in Texas next week and hitting the road on his first round the world adventure, and he is doing it without support or spares. Guezuraga, a self-declared full time motorcycle adventurer, is undertaking the westward trip on a Suzuki DRZ400. He said after his earlier experiences on heavier bikes he is keen to travel light. “The DRZ has got lots of off road capacity, much of the journey is going to be off road, especially though Mongolia and round Oz, so this is the better choice,” said Guezuraga. The IT guru has sold his house in Houston, Texas and is next week heading for Seattle.

Tuesday, 20 July 2010 16:20 |
Tomorrow is National Ride to Work Day in the UK as part of the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA)-backed National Motorcycle Week. The celebration of motorcycling for a week was created to inspire and inform potential new riders and encourage them to take their first step onto two wheels – and to involve enthusiastic fellow bikers in the process.
But it’s also about encouraging those who already ride to explore the varied and exciting world of powered two wheelers. And with that in mind, BMW Off Road Skills is offering to help enable riders of all experience levels to discover the world of off-road motorcycling with a £50 discount on any Level 1-3 course booked by Friday.
