A new flip front adventure helmet

Schuberth has just released their new adventure style flip front helmet, the E2. When it comes to premium motorcycle helmets, Schuberth is the name that comes to mind. The German brand has gained a reputation for their attention to detail in producing incredibly comfortable, quiet, and safe helmets.

Our expectations are high whenever they release a new helmet, because we expect it to be excellent. Their latest offering, the E2, picks up from where the already superb E1 left off and improves on some key areas. Let’s take a closer look.

Refined flip front mechanism

The build quality of Schuberth’s flip fronts is superb

Schuberth has refined the modular chin guard with a new locking mechanism. Constructed from fibreglass reinforced plastic, it has a low weight which is crucial for flip fronts and improves helmet stability when the chin bar is raised. Plus, it now has dual P/J homologation, so it’s legal to ride with in either the open or closed position.

The flip front has also been redesigned to improve the field of view, which was already excellent on the E1.

Improved safety

The E2 has a new expanded polystyrene material for improved shock absorption while also increasing the head cavity, so the helmet is even more comfortable and safer while not adding extra weight.

The helmet also has Schuberth’s specially designed low-weight fibreglass shell, and their Anti Roll Off System which helps prevent the helmet being thrown from your head in the event of a crash.

The E2 is certified to the latest 22.06 safety standard, so it’s among the safest helmets that you can buy.

Versatile adventure helmet

The redesigned peak looks incredible

Being an adventure helmet, the E2 comes with a peak, which looks fantastic. Like the E1, the peak is adjustable to three positions as well as being fully removable, but Schuberth has completely redesigned the peak for the E2 to reduce wind drag and noise, a highly welcome improvement since we did find the E1’s peak to catch some wind at motorway speeds.

The E2 comes pre-installed with a Pinlock 120 anti-fog insert and a two-position drop down sun visor. The E1 has one of the best integrated sun visors we’ve used, so the E2 is sure to deliver here too.

Schuberth has also integrated a microphone, antenna, and speakers into the helmet. This is a great feature because it eliminates the need for a bulky headset stuck to the side of your helmet or messy wires dangling from inside the helmet.

An optional Sena-powered comms system is available, which takes less than 20 seconds to fit, and has all the intercom, voice command, digital assistant, and Bluetooth features you need.

Premium comfort

Redesigned ventilation is a major improvement

If the E2 is anything like previous Schuberth helmets we’ve had the pleasure of wearing, it will be an absolute joy to wear. The seamless anti-bacterial lining, made from high-quality Italian fabric, is cool and smooth against your skin, and it’s easily removable and washable.

Another welcome addition is the completely new ventilation system, including the rear vent, as we found the E1 to run a little warm when in hot weather or while riding off-road.

Schuberth also pays great attention to the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of their helmets, and the E2 is no exception. We found the E1 to be one of the quietest helmets we’ve worn, and Schuberth have gone back inside their in-house wind tunnel to refine this even further for the E2.

So if you’re in the market for a new adventure helmet, the E2 is definitely worth considering. To discover more about this high-quality and versatile flip front lid, head over to Schuberth’s website here.
