Ferry. It’s more relaxing, comfortable and there’s more room to stretch your legs.
Most expensive accessory?
Leathers. I started with second hand then built up to a new set of RST leathers when finances allowed.
Life long ambition?
Just achieved it! Went to Isle of Man TT for nine days with my son. We both rode the mountain course together, which was amazing.
Ideal travel partner?
I should say my wife, but it’s actually my son, Jack! We are both made from the same mould and think alike.
Most dangerous moment?
Head-on collision with an Austin Maxi in 1976. Broke my leg in two places and was paid the grand total of £112 in damages!
Most memorable moment?
Touring Andalucia on an old Africa Twin.
What do you miss most when travelling?
My bed. No matter where you go in the world, there is nothing like getting into your own bed.
The person you would most like to meet and what question would you ask them?
Guy Martin… How many sugars do you want in your tea? Guy has always been a hero of mine. I admire the way he gives 100% to everything he does. I would love to sit and chat with him over a cuppa, he must have some amazing stories to tell.
Favourite Crap Joke?
Paddy says to Murphy “my mate came off his motorbike today”. “Oh really?” Murphy replies. “Yes, he has two broken arms and is blind in one eye.” “Jesus,” says Murphy. “No wonder he came off!”
