Session Title: Find out how I ended up in a war zone with Claudio von Planta - and very happy to be there too!

Never say 'no'. Saying 'yes' will always end up in some sort of adventure and our lives need this. Measuring my life by the value of the experience has superseded any monetary equivalent. Hear how a dinner and excessive alcohol consumption with Claudio von Planta, of Long Way Round fame, led to one of the most exciting adventures of my life.

Standing on the front line in Mosul, Iraq - surrounded by guns and bombed out buildings - listening to the coalition jets above made me ponder "What the feck am I doing here?".

An incredible journey into the Middle East with Claudio opened up my eyes to many things political, social, economic, power and control. Our legacy, if we have one should be our understanding. My story is about how I fell into this adventure and how wonderfully good and bad people can be. I hope you will find it exciting, funny and sad.

Having worked with Charley Boorman, Ross Noble, The Hairy Bikers, and Simon Pavey the Dakar legend, I've managed to put a fair number of adventure miles under my belt. Being a qualified African Field Guide, my passion is Africa and wildlife. Add motorcycles, broken rules, a touch of Irish humour and Liverpool cheek - stir well and there you have me! A lunatic - Billy Biketruck.
