Harley-Davidson has given its adventure bike a sportier makeover for 2025, with the new Pan America ST trading in its off-road ambitions for road-based performance.
Introduced back in 2021, the Pan America was Harley’s first real foray into the adventure bike market, and it hit the ground running. With a punchy V-twin engine, excellent comfort, and surprisingly good dirt credentials, we were thoroughly impressed with Milwaukee’s efforts.
However, as many other manufactures have done, Harley has realised that there is a sizeable portion of the market who have no desire to take their machines off-road – especially ones that weigh 258kg in standard trim.
Hence the Pan America ST. The idea with this new model is to offer the same long-distance comfort that we loved about the original Pan America but replace the larger front wheel and mixed-use rubber with a sportier combination and tweak the suspension to improve road handling. Minor tweaks, but it should prove to enhance the big Pan Am’s ability as a tourer.
This is what’s new with the Harley-Davidson Pan America ST.
Sporty makeover
The new Pan America ST downsizes from a 19″ front wheel found on the standard Pan Am to a 17″ front wheel, paired with a 17″ at the rear as well. This should help make the bike easier to steer into corners and lighter to handle.
In addition, both wheels will come with tarmac-focused Michelin Scorcher Sport tyres.
Likewise, the suspension has been adjusted to align with the new front wheel geometry, and both the fork and the shock lose some travel in the process. Both units are still adjustable electronically for preload and manually for rebound and compression damping.
As a result of this along with a new one-piece seat, the seat height has been reduced by 25mm, sitting at 825mm.
Additionally, the ST has managed to shed a few kilos, clocking in at 246kg rather than 258kg fully fuelled. This is in part due to lack of front crash bars, lower fairings, and handguards compared with its more adventurous stablemate.
Elsewhere, much is the same, including the engine, frame, and electronics, although the off-road riding modes have been removed, leaving you with Road, Sport, and Rain. A quickshifter is also included as standard.
The ST comes with blacked-out trim and three colour options: Billiard Grey, Vivid Black, and Brilliant Red.
It’s also now the cheapest Pan America model, retailing at £16,995, with the Pan America Special starting from £17,295.
Grand American Touring
Harley-Davidson has also released the Street Glide Ultra, a full-dress version of the Street Glide, designed for long-distance two-up comfort.
Built around the powerful Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-Twin engine, the new Street Glide Ultra comes with re-designed fairings for better aerodynamic performance, full luggage set and a luggage carrier, comfort seats with pillion armrests, a 12.3″ TFT screen, and saddlebag guards to protect the paintwork.
