First look: Fox Defend ADV boots and Bomber Pro gloves

Fox Racing has been busy over the last 12 months releasing some fantastic adventure biking kit. In particular, we’re big fans of the American company’s Defend and Recon suits.

Now, it’s completing the ensemble with a range of new boots and gloves, including the Defend ADV boots and the Bomber Pro gloves.

I was lucky enough to attend the launch of Fox’s new adventure boot range which took place in the mountains above Lake Como, Italy. You can read my full review of the Defend boots in the March/April 2025 issue of Adventure Bike Rider magazine.

But for now, let’s take a closer look at the new gear from Fox, and I’ll share my first impressions.

Fox adventure boots

Fox has come out with two new adventure boots: the Ranger and the Defend.

The Ranger boots sit at Fox’s entry-level price point, but they still offer many of the features and construction as the more premium Defend boots.

Both feature outer soles with grip patterns designed to offer good feel and grip on the pegs, and they also feature D30 impact protection in the tongue and ankle.

I’ve been particularly impressed at how comfortable and supportive the Defend boots have felt to wear. They have provided all-day comfort whether I’ve been riding trails, touring in warm weather, or walking around for hours away from the bike.

The Defend boot also features a Gore-Tex membrane to help keep your feet dry, a BOA fastener which provides a quick and snug fit, and a hard TPU heel for extra protection.

The lower-priced Ranger boot uses traditional laces and doesn’t feature Gore-Tex, but it’s just as comfortable as the Defend and makes for a great summer option.

Interestingly, despite making motocross boots for years, Fox has decided to make ankle boots for its adventure riding range.

Sure, there’s no quite as much protection as a full-length boot. But having worn the Defend boots for nearly six months now, I can say that I appreciate the versatility and comfort of Fox’s new boots, and because of that, I’ve reached for them more often than any other bike boot for day-to-day riding.

Plus, having worn them through winter and while out on the trails, I can say that they’re proving protective and durable so far.

The Fox Ranger boots cost £179.99 while the Defend boots cost £274.99. You can find out more about the boots here.

Bomber Pro gloves

Fox has also added two new pairs of gloves to its adventure range: the Bomber Pro and the Bomber Pro Air.

The Bomber Pro gloves are built for adventure riding in all kinds of conditions, with a water-resistant goatskin leather palm for durability and comfort, perforated leather finger tips for airflow, and abrasion resistant SuperFabric slider points for extra protection.

Meanwhile, the Bomber Pro Air is designed for warmer weather, using nylon air-mesh panels along with goatskin leather for extra ventilation.

Fox has a knack for creating gloves that fit well and allow for good finger dexterity, and the new Bomber Pro range is no exception.

I’ve only just got my hands on these gloves, but first impressions are good. They feel comfortable to wear and provide good tactile feel of my bike’s controls.

I’m looking forward to spending more time with them, and especially the Bomber Pro Airs throughout summer, which I reckon are going to be my gloves of choice for riding off-road around the Bridgestone Trail at the ABR Festival this June.

The Bomber Pro gloves retail for £134.99 while the Bomber Pro Airs cost £119.99. Click here to find out more.

Fox’s adventure biking range

You can find out more about Fox’s entire adventure biking range here. There’s a range to suit different riding styles, and I can vouch for the Defend suit. In fact, it’s some of the best adventure biking gear I’ve worn.

You’ll also be able to browse and try on Fox’s range of gear at the ABR Festival 2025, which is one of the best places in the UK to shop for new bike gear.
