VISIN ClearView: The bike upgrade that helps you see your SatNav in bright sunlight

It’s a problem we’ve all experienced. You’ve spent hours planning a route, the roads are brilliant, and the weather is finally playing ball. Then, just as you approach a crucial junction, the sun appears over your shoulder and turns your SatNav into a mirror. Suddenly, what should have been a quick glance at the screen becomes an exercise in squinting, head tilting, and educated guesswork.

It’s one of those frustrations we tend to put up with and try to ignore as bikers, until we’re riding unfamiliar roads and relying on our navigation to get where we’re going. And it’s a problem that’s becoming increasingly common as modern bikes rely on screens more than ever before.

But fear not, because the team at British brand VISIN has come up with a rather nifty solution which it will be showcasing at the ABR Festival at the end of the month. Even better,  VISIN will be fitting standard and bespoke size ClearView screens at the festival at a discounted price, so you can bring your SatNav and see clearly on the way home.

Anti-glare with the Visin ClearView

Developed by the same team behind the company’s heated visor system, the VISIN ClearView is an anti-reflective screen protector designed specifically for motorcycle navigation devices and TFT displays. VISIN says it developed ClearView after testing a range of popular motorcycle navigation systems and finding that many became difficult or impossible to read in direct sunlight.

Its advanced anti-reflective coating reduces glare and reflections while improving screen clarity, helping you see important information more easily in challenging lighting conditions.

It may sound like a small thing, but anyone who spends serious time on a motorcycle knows that small irritations quickly become big ones. When you’re threading your way through a busy city, trying to spot a turning on a mountain road, or following a GPX route through unfamiliar terrain, the ability to clearly read your display matters.

Solving a real-world problem

VISIN ClearView

What I particularly like about the ClearView is that it addresses a genuine riding problem rather than creating a solution in search of one. There are plenty of motorcycle accessories that promise to transform your riding experience. Some do. Many don’t.

ClearView is refreshingly straightforward. It doesn’t claim to make you faster, more adventurous or a better rider. It simply aims to make the screen you’re already using easier to read. And VISIN says the film has been designed to maintain touch-screen responsiveness while delivering improved visibility, so there are no compromises when interacting with your device.

The system is available for a growing range of popular motorcycle navigation products, including Garmin Zumo units, BMW Motorrad navigation systems, BMW ConnectedRide devices, and other dedicated motorcycle displays.

Quietly valuable

VISIN ClearView

Installation is designed to be straightforward, with each kit including everything needed to fit the protector, including cleaning materials, application tools and two anti-reflective films.

For me, the best motorcycle accessories are often the ones you stop noticing and quietly get on with the job. Heated grips, cruise control, a good seat, they’re not valuable because they’re flashy. They’re valuable because they quietly make every ride better.

ClearView feels like it belongs in that category. You might not think much about glare when you’re sitting at home planning your next trip, but the first time bright sunlight hits your display and you can still clearly see where you’re going, you’ll be glad it’s there.

Even better, the folks behind VISIN will be at the ABR Festival so you can see the ClearView in action for yourself under brilliant blues skies at Ragley Hall if you’re joining us at the end of the month. They will be selling and fitting standard and bespoke size ClearView protectors on people’s bikes.
