Revealed: 2026 Norton Atlas and Atlas GT adventure bikes

Meet the Atlas and Atlas GT, two new adventure bikes from Norton that were unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Italy this week.

And while the bikes do have more than a passing resemblance to a Honda Transalp from the ’90s, we can’t help but get excited at the prospect of the classic British brand (which is now owned by the Indian firm, TVS Motor Company) releasing not one, but two adventure machines.

And although Norton hasn’t revealed full technical information as yet, we’ve gathered everything there is to know so far.

Norton Atlas

Spoked wheels hint that Norton’s built some off-road prowess into the Atlas

Both the Atlas and the Atlas GT appear essentially to be the same machine with slightly different specs. So, let’s begin with the Atlas model which Norton described as a “British Army knife”, which we assume is a reference to the versatility of the iconic Swiss Army Knife. And being an adventure bike, versatility is something we’d expect.

Yet, while the wheels may be spoked, which indicates this is the more off-road biased version of the Norton’s new adventure bike, the road-biased tyre tread, low-mounted exhaust end can, and seat with raised pillion section all signal that the Atlas is more of a soft roader than rugged off roader.

Wheel sizes are a 19″ front and a 17″ rear, which again support the theory the Atlas will be more of a road-focused adventure tourer capable of some light greenlaning rather than anything more hardcore.

Engine and rider aides

The Norton Atlas is the newest addition to the middleweight adventure bike category

Norton has mainly produced large displacement bikes in recent years, so it’s perhaps surprising that the Atlas is built around a 585cc parallel-twin engine. But then again, that places it squarely in one of the fastest-growing segments of the adventure bike market, so it makes sense the brand would want a slice of that pie. However, since TVS is a multinational company and Norton has expressed its intent to build a global network of dealerships, it’s a safe bet that the engine size for the Atlas models wasn’t chosen just to suit the UK and European bike markets.

While no power figures have been released, what we do know is the engine will support Urban, Sport Touring, and Off Road power modes, and the Atlas comes with cornering traction control, cornering ABS, and a six-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that gathers feedback from the bike’s movements to manage all those systems.

Chassis and creature comforts

The Norton Atlas comes with a massive 8″ TFT touchscreen and USB-C charging port

The suspension on the Atlas is made by KYB, twin disc brakes are from ByBre (Brembo’s budget brand), and the bike is built around a steel trellis frame. The new Atlas comes with adjustable hand and foot levers, a tapered handlebar. and a heated seat and grips.

On the dash you’ll find a USB-C charge port and an huge 8″ TFT display through which you’ll select the rider modes and options we mentioned earlier, but also hill hold assist which keeps the bike in place when setting off on an incline. Interestingly, the Atlas also comes with wheelie and and launch control, which are unusual on an adventure bike at this capacity.

And what modern adventure bike would be complete without a bi-directional (up and down) quickshifter to let you change gears without the clutch, so rest assured the Atlas comes with one of those too. Behind the pillion seat is luggage rack, although Norton has yet to mention any accessory luggage options.

Norton Atlas GT

The 2026 Norton Atlas GT adventure tourer

The Atlas GT appears identical in many respects to the Atlas, apart from the 17″ cast aluminium wheels front and back. That, and the fact that Norton says the wheels “promise excellent stability on both long motorway stints and throughout background blitzes” all but confirms the Atlas GT’s mission as a dedicated, road-based tourer.

Roll-out of the Atlas and Atlas GT is expected early in 2026, but no pricing has been announced, so stay tuned.
