WTF?

I'd subscribe for a year in support of this new mag, but why would you charge 2.4 times the amount for us lot out of the UK? Postage to Oz ain't that much - especially for 4 issues.

Could not agree more, WTF?
Alun
Hi Gazza, nothing would please me more than to bring down the cost for you and all other overseas readers however the 'air mail' postage charges are fixed, out of my hands, and expensive. The current postage charges to Oz for our other title (Adventure Travel) hovers around £8 per issue at the Post Office. I know so because I pay the bills.

One way to reduce this cost is to send non airmail but that could mean a magazine taking anything up to 8 weeks to arrive and a 10% chance of it getting lost in the post – a lot of postmen read Adventure Travel on the cheap.

The other way is the economies of scale of bulk deliveries – take out 1000 subs, and I'm sure I could negotiate that price down for you.

The Royal Mail are the biggest benefactors when it comes to magazine subscriptions. Period.
Maybe a digital sub is the answer?

Either way I hope you stick around on this site.
Regards
Alun

There come a time in life you have to make that big leap of faith, perhaps this is that time. And hell, at £5.75 if you don't like the mag you still have some cheap toilet paper - I'd let the ink settle a little first though.

Welcome to the site a yank in Germany, head on over to the forum and introduce yourself we could do with a few more skinflints over there.

I would like to subscribe to your magazie. Question !!!! I leave the UK on the 30th August and will be riding Africa for 6 months.

Will I get a copy before I leave ?? When are you publish/delivery dates ?? I'd really like the first edition.

That would be great and save me from more paper piling up in our flat!!

If implemented, would it be a members area whose log-in you would need to subscribe to?

If so this would defo suit my needs more! And save you on printing!

Cheers

We send out all mags within 24 hours of receiving the order so no probs with getting one before the 30th. Current publishing dates are July (done), Oct, Jan, April. Those dates will change when we go bi-monthly, but not for a while.

How much to get in Canada?

All prices are at the top of this page - single issue £9.50, subscription £24

An update on digital subscriptions - they will happen but I'm not able to give a date just now.

Pay Pal Stinks.
Mr Toad
Hi the site looks great, I wish to subscribe to the magazine, however PayPal will not pay the £10 despite there being money in the PayPal account and they have my credit card details. Why do you have to use PayPal, if you have a PayPal account you can't even bypass the PayPal bit and use a credit card because as soon as you put in you email address (which you have to do) they identify that you have an account. Round and Round I go. I don't have the code they are asking for and don't use internet banking so I can't access the code without my paper bill. PayPal is never easy, I would rather just pay you with a credit card even if you charge extra to cover the transaction. PayPal stinks, sorry to rant, but computers etc are meant to make it easy for us. Hopefully some time soon I will be able to pay and receive my magazine as I don't seem able to find it in the shops. Cheers Mr Toad.

Hi Mr Toad
Sorry to hear you've had a frustrating experience, I've cut and pasted my answer to another subscriber below which explains why we use paypal. In your post above you mention a 'code' which paypal ask for, I'm not sure I understand what you mean there, as far as I'm aware when I use my paypal account to pay on-line I'm just asked for my email and password. Would you mind explaining?

ABR is currently on sale in most all W H Smiths plus many, many independent newsagents throughout the UK.

Regards

Alun

we thought long and hard about the Paypal subscription method and guessed that it would not suit everyone – I don't think there's a system that does?

The long and short of it is, for a small publishing company the administration of subscriptions can be very, very time consuming, enough to deflect resources away from the product and into the paper chase. Our decision to use the Paypal system was based on our 15 years experience of administrating subscriptions with Adventure Travel magazine and was chosen in no small part to make the process for subscribers and ABR as slick and efficient as possible.

On a practical note, I understand your concerns and here's my commitment to you and all other potential subscribers who have had a bad experience with Paypal...If you subscribe to ABR via Paypal and experience a problem, if I can't sort that problem within 48 hours then we'll give you a free subscription when we do sort it.

Hi I have finally subscribed, using the wife paypal account Jane Benstead, can you please start the subscription from issues to as I have bought issue 1 from WH Smiths. Top magazine and it came just at the right time as VisorDown as a magazine has just ended. Best of luck with the magazine and I'll spread the word.

Wow, unbelievable service!
Glenboy
I subscribed to the mag on Mon 23rd, asked for my sub to start with Issue 1 and it arrived today, the 26th. Now that's what I call service.

It looks fantastic, I've just had time to skim over it but it looks like there are some very interesting articles ... the kettle is on. Even the ads are relevant.

Thanks again and well done.
