Working at Adventure Bike Rider certainly has its perks, but there are some downsides too.
For example, it’s proven that looking at hundreds of photographs of bikers in incredible, awe-inspiring landscapes puts familial commitments and work obligations at risk. With prolonged exposure to world-class adventurous imagery comes with the chronic side effect of wanting to abandon everything and hit the road.
It’s not all bad. Sometimes we’re the ones doing the riding and taking the photos, although not as often as we’d like.
But our goal, why risking our relationships, is to help inspire and provide you with all the inspiration and knowledge you need to head off on your own adventure.
With this in mind, I’ve pulled together some of the ABR team’s favourite photos from the latest issue of Adventure Bike Rider magazine which is on sale now.
But be warned, these photos are guaranteed to give you an itchy throttle wrist, so only continue reading if you’re ready to pack your panniers and hit the road immediately…
Riding across the vast Nullarbor Plain in Australia
Any photo of my home country (I’m a true blue Aussie) gives me a pang of homesickness, but this image of the southern coast along the Nullarbor Plain especially so.
The freedom of the wide open land, endless dirt trails, and warm, sun-filled days is bliss. And that’s what adventure bikers Lobo and Linda decided to go in search of to celebrate turning 60 by riding across Australia, and then ride all the way back home to Wales.
You can read their incredible story on page 82 of ABR magazine issue 81.
The ultimate UK motorcycle tour
This photo is much closer to my adopted home, and although it’s not as sunny, biking in Scotland is as adventurous as it gets.
The Quiraing is a spectacular landform on the Isle of Skye, and it forms part of our UK End to End route which takes you from Land’s End to John O’Groats through the best that England, Wales, and Scotland has to offer.
The End to End is the ultimate UK biking route, and this final section is about as good as riding gets anywhere in the world.
If you can’t make it to Norway or Iceland this weekend, just follow this route through Scotland. The views and roads rival any Scandinavian scenery.
You can find the fifth and final section of the ABR End to End on page 52 of the May/June issue of ABR magazine.
The youngest pair to ride around the world in Morocco
Recently returned to the UK, adventure biking couple Lavi and Ollie have just completed an epic around-the-world trip.
In the process, they covered 46,705 miles, got married in Las Vegas, and became the youngest pair to ride around the world.
It’s an incredible feat, and so we caught up with them to hear more about their journey, how they managed being on the road for so long, and asked for advice that any aspiring RTW-traveller must hear.
And as well as being interviewed in the latest issue of ABR magazine, the intrepid couple are also coming to the ABR Festival this year where they’ll be speaking about their travels. So, make sure you come along to hear their incredible story. The last few tickets are on sale now, get yours today HERE.
In the meantime, you can find their interview on page 60 of issue 81 of ABR. It’ll have you daydreaming about your own round-the-world adventure.
A tour of Ireland you can do in a weekend
As much as we love riding in the UK, it’s always thrilling to get on a ferry and explore somewhere beyond our shores.
Unfortunately, we don’t have as much time as we’d like to go gallivanting across Europe for weeks on end.
That’s why we created this weekend route along the Wild Atlantic Way in the southwest of Ireland. Not only is it turn after turn of spectacular riding, it’s also a chance to get a big hit of adventure in just a couple of days.
That’s right, you can ride it in just a weekend. Discover the Ireland Weekender route on page 68 of issue 81 of ABR magazine.
Discover another side to Norway, one of best destinations in Europe for adventure bikers
It doesn’t get much better than exploring Norway. Miles of quiet, smooth, twisting tarmac, breathtaking scenery, and free campsites around every corner: it’s adventure biking heaven.
For these reasons, it’s also a very popular destination for bikers from across Europe. That’s why adventure bikers Sean and Emily wanted to take the path less travelled when they rode across Norway and Sweden.
Discover their top tips for discovering Norway’s best kept biking secrets on page 102 of issue 81 or ABR magazine.
