Nipped over to my local Yamaha dealer in Falkirk today, seen a new Tenere 1200cc in the flesh on the showroom floor, a black model for £10,500.

Had a close look around it, couldn't believe how the oil filter is not covered up, it's totally exposed at the front, the likes of a stone could pierce it so easily, what a stupid thing that's been overlooked by Yamaha!! Awful

I'd a similar thing happen to me riding a CBR600RR many yrs ago, an exposed oil filter and I got a stone through it about 60 miles north of Inverness and had to nurse it slowly to a bike dealership.

Really annoying!

The Falkirk Yamaha dealer didn't have a demo to test-ride. A couple of months ago I took out a Tracer MT-09 for a test-ride, enjoyed it.

ps
The V-Strom DL1000 has as standard a plastic lower cowl which covers up the oil filter in case of damage from stones.

They don't come with a sump guard and most of them protect the filter. I'm guessing a £10,500 bike is a World Crosser, I'm sure it's a 2012 colour, still very pricey as list is only £11k

I have just sold one of my bikes and am now in a position to go and get the bike I had decided on, a Yamaha 1200 super tenere , non electronic suspension, so the Z not the ZE,and pref in blue with the black speed block design, I had seen plenty advertised for £9995 but now I want one can I find one ?? no :( , all the ones that are still being advertised don't seem to actually exist, the best I can come up with is a silver one with the blue anodized wheels and forks for £10500,, so does anyone know of one that is actually in the showroom in blue for £9995 ?? doesn't matter where in the country I will travel,
cheers (thumbs)
ps, it has to be the 2014 model on, not the earlier model

Same as the 800 Tiger, someone never really thought that one out.My old A/T has it hidden at the back of the engine well out of harms way.

Hi yes they are Wigan Yamaha offered me the Yamaha cases in the deal but to be fair they didn't look too strong to me.
I would have a search for other makes though as there are a lot out there now,Ard cases metal mule etc. as touratech can be expensive. (thumbs)
