You tell me. You seem to feel that you needed to throw an insult. I just assumed it was your typical run of the mill jealous attitude that made you do it.
Calm down :pinch:

Everyone has a different idea regarding what gives them decent value for money or is a good investment and while some bikes (and watches) are money pits others will give you pleasure to own and actually increase in value so if not throwing your money down the drain is a major factor in deciding what to buy then they're the ones to go for.

I'm far from being an investment expert but I'd guess that any bike over 25 years old is going to gradually increase in value and any watch costing over a grand will do the same.

Far from it.

The cheapo tells the time. That's all.

The Rolex tell the time, look infinitely better, and give me a better return than most other investments.

5 years, the cheapo is worth a tenner, the 10k Rolex will probably see better than 10% increase. Most likely much more.

Not exactly the same thing is it ?
ah see thats were your wrong

the one main point your missing is........

i wont look like the white version of B.A from the a-team with that chunk of pimps gold hanging of me wrist

i dont need a 10k watch to let everyone know im rich and to extend me manhood ;)

(thumbs)
None are gold. They are bought as an investment, and will only rarely be worn. I wear a stainless sub everyday and it`s worth more than it was when I bought it new less than 3 years ago.

I`m not rich, and the assumption that people only buy expensive items to "extend there manhood" smacks of small minded jealousy to be honest.

You do what you like with your money, I`ll do what I like. But trust me, the watches earn me money.

You stick to your cheap.

Actually I`ll edit and explain.

Two Rolex watches. Both 1980`s models in great condition. Total price 9.5k after servicing.

The jewellers is a mainstream outfit offering 4 yrs interest free credit so I bought both. I`ll be paying 160ish quid a month for 4 years. Kind of the same amount that many would pay into savings, or perhaps an ISA.

After 4 years the watches will be worth over 10% more, (probably much more in the case of the early sea dweller)

The ISA will be worth shit, and the savings account will be with a bank that went bust.

This is the same reason part of my pension is tied up in vintage Lambrettas.

Or does that make me a flash twat as well.?
You are right about the Sea Dweller I paid £2700 for mine in 2007, just sold it to a dealer for £6000 wished I had bought two!!

When I spoke to Truimph about a Tiger XC the PCP looked attractive, until he told me there was a 3,000 miles per year limit over 3 years! Have you told your financiers that you do 15,000 per year on their bike? That kind of mileage must put you in the top 1% of long distance bikers my MOT garage tells me each time that he regularly tests bike that do less than 1000 miles per year.

Dave
My dealer (CW Motorcycles) know I do that mileage and they always do the finance for me and they always buy the bike back from me.
My insurance is fine too, I have class 1 business cover and it's for unlimited mileage.
These bikes are built for big mileage, another customer has just handed in a 3 year old RT with 110000 miles on it.
I think if you talk to your Triumph dealer you'll find that PCP's are available for all sorts of mileage, you just pay more as it builds up.

Brads, you're quite right about your watches. I bought an Omega Seamaster about 10 years for £2500 and had it valued recently for insurance purposes, I nearly fell over when I found out what it's worth, but I still wear it on a regular basis both on land and in the water.

If I could afford it I'd have loads of nice watches, screw the investment side of things, I'd buy them to wear and look at as some are things of beauty.

I've seen a few omega and breitlings that would look good on my wrist (thumbs)
