take the King Harry Ferry towards the top of Falmouth Sound - take the Military road on the left north on the north estuary, there is a nice pub cafe / with lots of DDay stuff and info about large ship storage up there.

Stayed at this place near Perranporth last November blue Hills and was made most welcome, run by a couple who've ridden round the world amongst other biking adventures.

Portreath - The fish and chips with posh crushed peas at the cafe near the main beach car park - good road too. Also the B3306 St. Ives to Seenan/Land's End.

Stayed there with my wife and children a couple of years back for Whit week.
Peaceful and a handy base for getting around SW Cornwall. Peter the owner was a sound bloke, and the prices were OK. Give him a call to see what it's like now. B)
