Can you have an adventure in the UK?

I live in southern spain, 40km inland from Alicante, My adventures are aeirial mast bagging......if i see one on a mountain, i know sure as hell there has to be a road or dirtrack up to it........sometimes you have to go 5 or 10 miles in the oppisite direction or around the mountain to find the roads, the views are fantastic, you always have cell phone reception..... and its usually dead quiet.
occasionally you find the odd tool or pair of pliers left behind by workmen as a bonus and one more than one occasion have spotted wild mountain sheep, wild boar, deer and many snakes.

so YES you can have an adventure within 50 miles of your home i would say........riding roads you have never ridder, back roads, forestry roads, all good fun.

At my age (!!) getting on the bike is an adventure in itself!!
I think of motorcycling as a state of mind - I guess a zen kind of thing - so every trip will always be an adventure - if not, I may have to stop doing it.

Some events can be what I call an 'Adventure too far'.

Recent examples including riding around the Okehampton ring road (military access road on Dartmoor) when it's -3 degrees in very dense freezing fog and losing 2 KTMs in a river because I misjudged how deep and fast flowing it was, but I did go first and managed to get across OK.

For me an Adventure is an event (good or bad) that you'll never forget - fixing a puncture on a knackered old BSA at the side of the M62 in the snow, in the middle of the night comes to mind.

Its not so bad. You just have to watch out, especially on Monday mornings, because all the PSVs will have overfilled fuel tanks first thing....so they p*ss diesel all over the road :huh:

Brilliant topic - of course you can have an adventure anywhere and anyhow, it's a state of mind; being open to people, places and new experiences!

I've been driving round it doing the school run all winter at 7:30-8:00, it's bad enough in a car, I usually try and cut through the park, nothing like whooshing along while glancing across at the queue of cars on Bayswater Road, teeing to get through the lights at Marble Arch.

Was business today so no time for pleasure (kind offer though) Just worked out my business mileage & since mid August have covered 3245 London rush hr miles :blink: N2 tomorrow

Talking of adventure, I was stuck bringing up the rear of a Hells Angel funeral procession on my way in. I didn't blast past, even though I was late......out of respect obviously :whistle:
