Re: How square is too square?

Good advice, folks, thanks. Like i said the handling's still fine just now, i'll keep an eye on it and change it if it starts to feel a bit squirrelly. Good point about the front too. Just had a look and it seems fine.
Thanks

How square is too square?

Noticed the Conti Trail Attack 2 on my rear has a bit of a flat spot round the middle. Handling's unaffected so far, and there's plenty of tread left right across, but i'm just wondering how people feel about squaring off and how far you let it go before swapping out the tyre. I've done just over a ...

Re: Fibre Glass Tent Poles snapping (Vango)

I worked in my local Black's for ten years, and used to pitch dozens of tents every week to show customers. As a consequence, I'd never buy any tent with fibreglass poles. Yeah, they tend to be cheaper, but they're much too heavy and nothing but a ballache when they snap (and eventually the vast ...

Trousers for a tall fella

My brother-in-law's 6'5" and looking for a decent pair of trews, preferably with adjustable knee armour. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Re: ear plugs or more expensive helmet?

Earplugs earplugs earplugs. Every time. I used to work in health and safety and could bore you with any amount of numbers and safe exposure limits, but i'll just say that I wouldn't even ride ten minutes to the shops without my plugs in. Quieter helmets definitely help, but the road and engine noise ...

Re: West Coast - Applecross and Plockton

Ha, yeah I put it at x8 speed. I've found if I leave them in real time you can see peoples' eyes glaze over as they stare through 25 minutes of video! The weather was horrendous. It was raining sideways at the top, partly why I felt so bad for the cyclist on his way up!

Love it. Great example of getting on with it and not letting obstacles stand in your way. Your route sounds brilliant. I lived in Bergen as a kid, I'd love to go back and ride some of those roads one day.

West Coast - Applecross and Plockton

Just back from a week's holiday on the West Coast with the in-laws. Lovely people, but my condition was that I got to take the bike over, and the wife and I could take off for a couple of days. The cottage we were renting was at Mellon Charles, just outside Aultbea on Loch Ewe where the Arctic ...
