guess that I should write a RR here, ive got one going on ADVrider too.
a couple of weeks ago we decided that we wanted a holiday (myself and my wife). and i have a lovely GS paris-dakar that we still havent used on a long trip....
but the thing is, my health isnt so great.
i have terrible joints and actual real problems with dislocating them now and then. (i put my shoulder out the day before our winter trip up north!)
its because of a stupid genetic condition I have called Ehlers-Danlos (http://www.ehlers-danlos.org/about-eds/ ... -syndrome/)
anyway, i use a wheelchair on and off because it bloody hurts to walk sometimes.
espesially slow walking in shops and that sort of thing, blurgh!
so my wife being the clever smarty brain that she is, says "why dont you put the wheelchair on the bike?"
thats when a plan formed.
this was the chair just loosely placed on. its like it is made to fit!
the next step was to make some brackets up on the box.
this was the first bracket, easy to make, i used some old scrap steel, cut to to size and rivited it on.
the foot rest on my chair sort of slot into place on the shelf thingy.
then i made a rest thing on the top of the box for the axle to sit on.
its not pretty, but it works well, i will add some rubber to the mounts to stop the chair sliding around so much.
next step is to make some mounts for the wheels, i will probably make a stub axle type thing with some sort of lock pin.
got to do some work on the bike too, need a brake light switch and a new rear tyre which is ordered and on its way.
got a bit of a route planned out too
it will be from here (near bergen) over to sweden for the first nights camping (possibly wild camping, we shall see).
then the next day its over the bridge, into denmark, then shoot through denmark (BORING!) and try and get into germany for the second night.
after that, we will head down to wolfsburg and check out autostadt. after that 9unsure on how long we will be there, probably camp nearby) we will head into czech republic, the head over to praha, stay there for a few days maybe, then its on down to austria, over the alps and into italy.
thats about how far we have got with planning anyway...
i bloody hope this uploads and doesnt crash!

Love it. Great example of getting on with it and not letting obstacles stand in your way. Your route sounds brilliant. I lived in Bergen as a kid, I'd love to go back and ride some of those roads one day.

The power of positive thinking combined with a 'why not' attitude. These things in so far as possible shouldn't stop us doing things, just that we do them a little different.
Sounds like some good ride reports will be forthcoming.....and I bet there will be quite a few laughs along the way turning up with that lot on board.
Safe travels and enjoy the trip!.

Awesome, well done sir. I had to take a pair of crutches on my BMW when riding around the Alps a few years ago, but this is on another scale, top man, well done (again)
Enfield Himalayan... apparently they're Marmite... not keen on Marmite, but like Vegemite

last trip i took was on my old VF with knobblies, knackered shocks and too much luggage, that was a week after a knee surgery, so i jst added extra footpegs and took my folding walking stick...
