Rieju 307 Aventura Rally

Post by Magnusson »

After long time comparing all sorts of bikes I pressed pre-order on this one today.
https://rieju.com/gb/adventure/121/1990 ... -rally-307

Ticks all the boxes that my sorely missed CRF 250 Rally did, but seems a little bit better in every way.

Unfortunately I get http error when trying to upload a photo. You'll have to use your imagination.

Seems to be based on Chinese bike known as Hengjian s3. Seen here in action (250cc version if the graphics are to be believed).
Probably some minor changes made for Rieju.

That looks nice!
I like the 137kg weight.
And a 21l tank… sweet!

It looks awesome on paper. With this and Voge, Honda really needs to raise their game (and lower their price) to be competitive in the 250-300cc Rally bike range in Europe. Honda has been sitting alone in the European market since the Suzuki V-Strom 250, Yamaha XT250 and Kawasaki Versys 300 aren't sold here.
137 is dry weight and it'll be about 16 kg of fuel, plus some more stuff. Still lighter than the Honda 300 Rally, and this comes with compression and rebound adjustments back and front. Plus dash which will sync with your phone and display satnav (if I can figure out how to connect to it. :D)
Price is only known in some countries but should be similar to the Voge, about 20-25% less than the Honda.
I was also looking at the Rieju Aventura 125, it's similar in price and weight but half the power.

According to some sources the engine is made by Loncin, originally based on (or also used in) the Kawasaki KLX300. https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new ... ntura-307/
KLX 300 is another bike that would be nice to see for sale here.

Been digging deeper after Tramps mention of use of Voge Rally engine.

Turns out that in case of premature engine failure, you can buy a complete Loncin replacement engine from China for a little over one thousand Royal Great British Pounds. https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale- ... ngine.html? Probably differently tuned than the Rieju engine.
The listing below at 1126 GBP lists the colour as "Sliver" but I'm sure that if the seller is asked nicely he can provide the engine in "Balck". It's unclear if the 178 GBP shipping is included in the price.

i took apunt on the voge rally for 2700 quid ex demo ...tbo its not bad at all off road ..i think the reiju will address most of the shorcomings of the voge ...the front forks on te voge are actually ok when you put stronger springs in ..and the rear shock ok but the reiju will hopfully be a significant step up ...tbo i like the voge and it s hard to knock for the money ...
i only realised it had a klx copy in when i did the oil change as i had a klsx a while back and the motor is very similar in so much you really have to let it rev hard but it stll has a good ability to crawl up stuff without stalling ...i think part of this is the relativly short gearing with a lofty 14/48 standard set up that tbo works really very well off road but is somwhat buzzy over 55mph ..i do hope with the extra 4/5 hp of the reiju they will manage to revise the geabox a little but i doubt it ... a keeping 1 to 4 pretty much the same and a longer 5 and 6 would be great but i dounbt that will happen ...
allthat said the quiality of finish and longer better suspension make the reiju look a very very good deal .it will be very interesting to me at least if you come back with some review /impressions when you get it out ..the voge at least is fine for me as a weekend warrior a few day away in the uk ..i wouldnt like to take it much further especially if motorways are involved ..that said i rode it back from devon recently up the m5/6 and for a few hours it took to get home it wasnt too bad sat in the high 60s ...the one trick it has that helps alot is that it is a pretty comforatable little bike where as the reiju looks a little more enduroised if that makes sense
so far the motor has beed fine and taken the inevatable pastings its been handed out with ..i love the look of the reiju and i am temped to take apunt as a upgrade ..im not saying the voge is the last word in off road prowess and could deffo be better in terms of paint clocks and suspension but it really does surprisingly well and is near impossible to stall even on tougher climbs ..the reiju at 4.5k looks to address most of the voges shortcomings for another 800 quid or so seems to be the one to go for ...

A guy on voge300 Facebook group rode from Italy to Nordcape and back he's done some serious km on his without drama except shirty chain and wheel bearings but that's to be expected..

Far more reliable than any ccm for sure ha ha ..
