NEW LICENCE

I have finally gotten around to getting a new licence, looking at the back of the licence I see I am entitled to ride.....
AM and A
A1 and A2 is blanked out I can't find what categories they are, anyone with a clue ?

Mine just has a line through A1 and A2 - are they the pre full licence levels?
AM looks like moped and I presume A is full bike licence.

Category AM
You can drive 2-wheeled or 3-wheeled vehicles with a maximum design speed of over 25km/h (15.5mph) but not more than 45km/h (28mph).
This category also includes light quad bikes with:
unladen mass of not more than 350kg (not including batteries if it’s an electric vehicle)
maximum design speed of over 25km/h (15.5mph) but not more than 45km/h (28mph)
Motorcycles
Category A1
You can drive light motorbikes with:
an engine size up to 125cc
a power output of up to 11kW
a power to weight ratio not more than 0.1kW/kg
This category also includes motor tricycles with power output up to 15kW.
Category A2
You can drive motorbikes with a:
power output up to 35kW
power to weight ratio not more than 0.2kW/kg
The motorbike must also not be derived from a vehicle of more than double its power.
You can also drive motorbikes in category A1.
Category A
You can drive:
motorbikes with a power output more than 35kW or a power to weight ratio more than 0.2kW/kg
motor tricycles with a power output more than 15kW
You can also drive motorbikes in categories A1 and A2.

Always worth checking new licences as DVLA have/had a habit of losing categories of peoples licences a couple of years ago
Even in the face of evidence such as old paper driving licences and newer cards, they refused to back down... I did hear of a legal case the licence holder won out of Court, but with nothing admitted by DVLA...

yes I know of 2 people who have had entitlements go missing off their licence. :whistle: Hence my double checking :pinch:

this happened a few years ago, alway photocopy yer licence or if you have a good contact, lawer or magistrate to witness it

Tick the box that says you have lost the current one..then you can miraculously find it again if there is any difference to the new one ...

Me too. It's the only proof they will accept if they screw it up.

Sadly they are unlikely to accept this. A police officer had his licence copied (as is the norm) by the police driving school and the DVLA would not accept this as evidence and the cop had to re-do his bike test.

The DVLA never admit mistakes.
