First time at the TT - any tips?

Post by scutty »

I am off to my first TT on Thursday and wondered if anyone has any tips on best places to watch from or any other general tips?

Cheers

Take a small radio to listen to the results.

Judging by the carnage total so far, I'd say park the bike up, watch the racing and drink beer

Expect Germans to be on the wrong side of the road.

If you want to do a couple of laps when it's quieter you need to get up early in the morning. Next week when there's no evening practice on race days go out at about 6pm because that's when a lot of people will be eating.

I've been a fair amount of times and the one thing I never do is go round the circuit anti clockwise. I know the mountain section will be one way but I just don't like going towards the main flow in case I meet someone on my side of the road. It's also worth learning the coast road from Ramsey to Onchan including how to get there from the Gooseneck because the mountain section is closed because of accidents every day the TT is on.

It's a brilliant place over both the TT & MGP fortnights.

Try and get to Bray Hill either for practice or the race (it'll be heaving mind), we watched from someone's garden wall next to the traffic lights on Friday practice (thumbs)

If you're up over the mountain during the day park up at Windy Corner and watch the world go by for a while....it often goes by pretty quick :woohoo:

And enjoy yourself!
