Motorcycle Express Air Freight

We are just starting to plan a North America trip starting next June.
Has anyone had experience of air freight with Motorcycle Express?

I've just had a chat with Mike over there and he seems to know his stuff, and a sidecar can go by air. (thumbs) (thumbs)

No I haven't but I'll be keen to hear. I spoke to James Cargo and they quote about a grand to New York, which they say is the best option. I'm looking at about March '16.
Anyone know who's good and who's not?

I used James Cargo to send my bike to Argentina - I left it at a mates garage in Dorset along with the soft panniers and my helmet. they collected it and the next time I saw it was in Argentina - all I needed to do was straighten out the mirrors and ride away - very good professional service.

Sounds good. I plan to use them from BA or Santiago, onwards.

Motorcycle Express only do Monteal or Vancouver in Canada.
Using their on line quote facility showed about £1800 return, and prompted a call from Mike.
He had lots of other info to share too. Like, you fly on the same plane as your bike. Get off, re attach the battery and ride away.

Mike at ME made it sound as if there wasn't a problem. He spoke about various parts of the U.S. and I let home know that we intend to go in to Alaska and I also mentioned other places in the lower 48. (I'm already practicing my Americanisms!)

But I will check in to it.
He suggested that we will need to be sorting Visas, shipping, insurance etc in January.

Ring Heathrow Cargo Terminal for Air Canada and ask them how much per kilogram. MAke sure you also ask them for the per kg price for over 500kg as well - sometimes it's cheaper to classify the bike is heavier than it actually is. Shipping into Canada is a doddle.
