Any Garmin experts on here?

Post by Emf#53 »

I'm having trouble uploading maps from Mapsource - when I try and transfer to my Zumo 660 it transfers the waypoints ok but then when it tries the maps it says its having trouble communicating with the device and the next line says a file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

Anyone got any idea what this could be and how to fix it?

Cheers in advance :)

Use Garmin Mapinstall rather than mapsource

Have you tried using Garmin Base camp, many people use that now as opposed to mapsource. (thumbs)
If I can do it then it is pretty much idiot proof

I've now got a mates Zumo and the maps load on there ok so I guess it must be something to do with my unit.

Something to look forward to fixing when I get back from my trip away I guess !! :)

On the Garmin Forum,

https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?179-BaseCamp

their developers say to use Mapsource with the 660.

also try installing maps onto memory card as your 660 may not have enough room, it is also much faster to load straight onto a card rather than through the unit.

Do you mean you can't transfer maps or routes ??
I'm no expert but I usually only transfer routes to the 660 as the maps are already on there. The one time I added maps was for Morocco and they went onto a micro sd card, put a card in the 660 and Mapsource should find the 660 and the card when transfering data.
