Can anybody recommend a mechanic in the Brittany area .

Brittany is full of bike shops so you should have no problem finding general mechanics who can do stuff, it may well be that you'll be standing next to someone waiting to get their lawnmower fixed but you'll be fine, even the village I lived in had one, he worked out of the agricultural supplies place.
But be aware that the whole big adventure bike thing never really caught on in France, so if you've got a big KTM or BMW finding specialists, diagnostic computers, and parts will be harder, Brittany is rural so there were never that many customers with that much disposable income to afford one.
What are you riding? I'll ask my parents to look through their yellow pages for you.
It's beautiful riding country, and there's loads of trails. Enjoy.

Staying just out side St Malo.
Riding a Africa Twin and my m8 has a Dr Big.
We have AA / RAC but still like to be pepaired just in case.
