A little moan about the latest issue #22.

The tent 'test' what is that all about then, I mean.. no info on weights or pack down size, the main specs for a motorcycle friendly tent..

..also, the 'selection' I bet there aren't many ABR readers that will splash out much more than say £100 to £150 for a reasonable item, yet nearly all of them were over £160, some of them over £300.

Now I'm not really a tight sod, but no way would I spend that sort of money for the my holiday tent, which I suspect is what most people here use them for.

Why no Coleman tents? they have a very good selection at very affordable prices, the same with Vango, (which was represented with one tent).

It came across as a very lazy article, done with the aid of a tent catalogue, very poor!

The rest of he mag is looking good though, sorry for the negative vibes, but as a tent tart, I was looking forward to a bit of porn..

Points taken on board Sleepy. In hindsight such details should have been given. Apologies for that. And I know what you mean, most I've spent on a tent is twenty quid. Next time we'll do some more budget stuff.

I don't get the mags so have not seen this report but I can add that for the ones that intend using a tent a lot then a good tent ( which are not cheap ). Is a must . They are better made , stronger and even the light weight alloy poles are stronger. They pack down smaller weigh less and can withstand bad weather conditions better.

When your using a tent day in day out you soon find out the difference between a £100+ tent and a £300+ one .

Were some of these tents repeats of ones in previous issue test? Can't get to my previous collection to take a look but think I recall some of them .... recycled journalism?

Guys don't write anything negative about the magazine or the people involved with it, not even as a joke, as one of the moderators will just delete your post, just pay your money and keep your opinion to your self....

As far tents go you only get what you pay for...

I edit the magazine and am here listening so I don't quite think there was any need for that.

From what I gather the tents were all new to the test, within reason, as tent technology doesn't move on so fast. But if there was repeat material then certainly it's something we need to avoid in the future.

I get your point... but my current tent is a Phad X2, cost about £100, I've used it on two, three week holidays through France and Spain and a few weekends in England, putting it up (and down) each night, so about 60 times, it's a well made tent and is good for many years (providing I don't get another hmy: ).

I'm not thinking of going RTW or anything like that, so this type is Ideal.

Why do you need guidance on which "cheapo" tent to buy - Go round after any festival or campsite after a gale and see the abandoned tat.

just pay your 20 quid & leave it by the wheelie bin! :whistle:

Now paying £300 for sticks & nylon ... that needs all the research you can find.

personally in my opinion it seems to get better of late, gave an old copy to a sports type biker mate, he went out and bought the latest addition! Before I have received mine BTW! .As for tents, I like to no the best, even if I cant afford them. Best of the cheap tests, would be good on all products.thanks.
