Hi just like to say thanks for letting me join your forum.
Just picked up my R1200GS 2010 and looking forward to hopefully meeting a few of you on some of the upcoming trips or just out on the road.
As i have only got road tyres at the moment been told to get some TKC80's so i can take the bike off road.
Cheers Killa

Hi, and welcome, great choice of bike, obviously a discerning new member. Enjoy.

welcome mate to the mad house. So your on the Dark side
Well I'm on the light british side, Tiger 800xc. Anyhow lots of different options for semi off road tyres.
At the moment I am running a Mefo sport Explorer front and a Metzeler Karoo 3 on the back. So far the combination is pretty good, I do 90% tarmac/ 10% off road etc. And they seem to handle most stuff, wet mud, sand, grass, dirt tracks, wet chalk etc etc.
I am also getting pretty good mileage out of them as well. They are currently both on about 5,500miles. Gonna change at 6,000miles when they will be pretty much dead.
I am quite free with the right hand so well impressed with the wear on them.
I know that TKC's don't have much life in them, there is some talk on other forums where people are only getting 3k  but I know a lot of BMW riders use them.
The Mefo is a 50/50 90 90x21" front from Zenoverland at £48
And the metz is a 70/30 150 70x17" off the net at about £82
So have a look around at reviews before you jump in and get TKC's
