Barcelona to Palma Ferry
Morning all,
Does anyone have any experience of using the Barcelona to Palma (Transmediterranea) ferry?
I'm meeting my family over in Mallorca this July and have booked the return crossings and wondered if anyone has used this. I'm mainly interested in how they tie the bikes down, there's nothing on their website and, whilst it's a while away,I was wondering.....as you do.
Cheers.

A mate of mine used them, they ripped the seat ratcheting the straps down, all sorted by their insurance.

Thanks, I'll make sure I do it myself then - or at least watch over them. Good to know they have straps anyway.
Al any further info' you can get off your friend would still be appreciated.

There are two ferries that sail to Palma from Barcelona, been on both, but not on the bike.
I think that the one you mentioned is the catamaran one that always seems to sail at half speed to save fuel.
The other ferry is a overnight ship type ferry that gets into Palma very early in the morning so that you have to be off by 0700 Hrs.

I've never been on the ferries but the Med can be surprisingly choppy. Friends who live on Menorca frequently suffer cancellations, especially the catamarans.

I don't do choppy very well, I tend to spend the journey feeding the fish so, I'm hoping it'll all be OK in late July. I've lived on both Ibiza and Mallorca but only used the ferry once, and that was without the bike back in the early 80's to/from Ibiza. I can't remember much about it, hence the question, come to think of it I can't remember much about the 80's but that's another story.
