Hi i am contemplating buying one of these bike for a European trip next year.
BM is a 1986 55k nice condition and runs well, with panniers
Honda is 2002 with 17k full luggage as standard, nice condition.
The main criteria are reliability, decent fuel economy, comfort.
Opinions!

As a bm man mostly ( I have a few and had more)
I would jump onto a Deauville for a change
I think its a Transalp with touring styling (I may be wrong on that though)

Re: BMW R80RT OR HONDA DEAUVILLE
Currently have a DOHville and I've had, many many years ago, a R80RT.
Can't compare them directly due to the time gap in ownership, but my lasting impression of the RT was how frigging heavy it was to pick up from the horizontal positon it seemed to prefer to the vertical one normally associated with motorbikes!
The DOH is a capable mile muncher that will sing if you care to tickle it's carbs with some vigor
Just don't expect to open the garage door, cast an eye over it and grin, thinking - "Thats my bike, that is".
