Anyone Done Morocco This Year (2013) ???

Looking to ride down through France, Spain and then onto Marrakech in Morocco and looking for some recent info from 2013 travellers if available.

I have seen ride reports from 2010 but as things change quite quickly over there I was hoping for more up to date info and advice please.

Also any advice on a good route down through France / Spain

Yep, Homer and me were there in October, we had 23 days including travelling time.
We crossed overnight Portsmouth-Caen and rode through France and Spain in 2 days as we wanted to spent as much time in Morocco as possible B) We just put fastest route in sat nav and followed it.
We did a mixture of trails and tarmac, I will do a ride report this weekend........hopefully :dry:
When are you thinking of heading down there?
We avoided Marrakech, went there in 2011 and we both hated it, we tended to go more off the beaten track this time (thumbs)

Going at Easter 2014 and doing the Chunnel then down through France and Spain and have been told to do the Algecirias - Tangier Med crossing (but that may change again depending on ease of travel)

Have been to Marrakech a few times so know / like the place but will also venture into the lower Atlas etc.

Am hoping to have 15 days to do the whole trip in and there's 3 of us doing it

This was my third time and to be honest not much has changed , one thing they have clamped down on the touts , in Melilla anyway , so you have to que with the locals , 90mins instead of 15

I'm with Bonniebird on this , sod Marrakech and Casablanca but each to his !!

Went in april for about 4 weeks. Will never get round to a report so;

Ferry to Santander, shot across to Algerciras. Just went to the ferry port and got the next outbound, loads to choose from and no bother with touts. I went for the pistes and the desert so bimbled as far down as Tan Tan. Did about 1500 miles off road, all easy (ish) all good fun. Used Morocco Overland for the piste routes and just made it up as I went along.
Casablanca was a good laugh at rush Hour with a busted wheel bearing and Marrakech was just a pain. Stay in the country though and the place is wonderful. It seemed to get calmer the further south I went.

Nice place, may well go back one day, just got a few other places to see first :laugh: .
