My Morini Granpasso
rare, powerful, reliable, comfortable, fast and generally ace to ride............

Mine was a GPZ550...E reg.
It was my first 'big' bike and i loved it. I went everywhere i could on it. loved the power..feel...weight and sound.
It fitted me perfectly. Until the crank decided to join me on the tarmac sitting on the M3.
But after that i went for a nice and calm simple machine. I bought a RG500.

Yes it was a bit of a mistake i must admit.
I wonder how many people on here can rememebr them or eve rode one.
Let me say that the rev counter started at 3k. The smell of two stroke oil took months to get rid of.
But it was fun not using the front wheel much.

Re: the best bike you have owned and why?
Apart from the few lemons I've bought.... most of the bikes I've owned have been the best bike I've had to date when I owned them.
But inevitably, something better comes out and we want that, more refined, better handling etc. Also as we get older our choices in what bike we want change.
Many of my past bikes I have great memories of, but I wouldn't want to own them now.

My Versys.
Performance surprises the over 900cc brigade.
Weight.
Short wheelbase on the tight corners.
Fuel economy C.60mpg.
Always an extra 2000 revs in the box if needed.
Looks.
Uncomplicated rear suspension (no linkage bushes)
Tank range.
Riding comfort.
Great headlight.
DISLIKES.
No centre stand (I think all long distance tourers need one so you can get a wheel off easily in the wilderness)
Tank could do with a fore & aft baffle. (When it's full you can feel the slop of the fuel from side to side when you're not moving)

Lightness is everything.
Lightness with Grunt is a Scratcher!
An Adventure is not a tank transfer.

DR350S.
Consumed loads of wheel bearings and brake pads, but otherwise brilliant. Stupid boy replaced it with a Husky TE610E. Pile of junk.
Aprilia Pegaso 650
Probably the most reliable vehicle I've owned with the exception of a Volvo car (which is a Volvo truck in disguise). A brilliant and very safe bike that was also loads of fun.
KTM950 Adv
Not the most reliable or economical bike but capable of covering huge distances on the road without effort and trail riding too (when it's dry).
