Summer Solstice Run June 21st Stonehenge 04:52!
Hi All. I shall be taking a run down to Stonehenge for the summer solstice on June 21st to see the sacrificial virgins being slayed at sunrise! Heading from Bath at 0330AM to get down for sun up at 0452. Been there on the solstice before but never for sunrise. Weather dependant to a point. Probably head off for a run towards Midhurst, Hampshire afterwards for a late breakfast before a blat back across the plain. Free access to the stones and parking. The hippy in me is trying to get out again!

Barf hoping to be there, all depending on work.
May be a case of coming straight from a nightshift in MK to get there :woohoo:
Been wanting to do this for years

You tread on the heels of many, till you come where the ways divide.
And one lies safe in the sunlight, and the other is dreary and wan, Yet you look aslant at the Lone Trail, and the Lone Trail lures you on....
....Bid good-bye to sweetheart, bid goodbye to friend, The Lone Trail, the Lone Trail, follow to the end.
Tarry not, and fear not, chosen of the true;
Lover of the Lone Trail, The Lone Trail waits for you"

Another brave soul who enjoys the best time of the day! Not sure what bike I'll be on yet. Probably the XR600. Be nice to head over towards Butser hill afterwards.

Hi Barftone, is the route your are planning suitable for mid weight bike F800? Do you feel inclined to get to Stonehenge with some night trails or are you sticking to the tar - to make sure you get there on time? I should have taken up the invite on Tues at TRF - If you are the Tone I think you are! Either way happy to meet on the way - Potterne/W Lavington. Richard

No problem Richard. I have left it fairly vague because: It is weather dependant. Don,t mind showers but if it is gonna honk down all day I won,t bother. I was intending to take the XR600. Probably head through Devizes and around the Plain perimeter road down to Stonehenge which is pretty easy and direct (will have to check if the army are playing games). After watching sun up (1hr?) and soaking up the atmosphere I was going to head across some lanes towards Hampshire. Not been over that way for a while so not sure of lane suitability for a big traily but will be going steady. I have planned to meet an old friend for a cafe brekky in Midhurst (or Loomies cafe) then head back up and across towards Alton and Hangman Hill (South of Newbury) and Cherhill. So you are welcome to join me at any point and ride along but I cannot garantee easy going all the way!

I live one mile from Stonehenge......so no I won't be joining you.
There are only so many tourists one can stand.

Not sure we will be needing sunglasses for the sunrise - but from the looks of the weather forecast it might at least not be raining!
