new to adventure bikes
Hi,
I'm new to adventure style bikes having just bought a 800gs to try and extend my riding time into the winter months, I'm in need of new helmet boots and gear to see me through the winter, was looking for recomendations of kit and maybe suppliers close to my location in Stafford, I have seen alot in the press about Klim kit is it really worth the money, any ideas where I could try some on, can only find it online.
cheers Jim

Jim,
you can try on the Klim range, various "adventure" boots, helmets etc at Adventure Bike Warehouse in Manchester.
You'll also get a brew and biscuits.

Hi Jim - welcome to the site.
Don't forget the Motorcycle show is being held at the NEC in Birmingham at the end of this month. Might be a good place to buy something...

Hi and Welcome from Brum. B)
For gear, you have a local supplier with an ebay shop who I got some great Alpinestars boots (used) from for a bargain price . They are Bikes 4 All, 16 Barn Road, Handsacre, Rugeley, Staffordshire, WS15 4TA Website. May be worth looking them up.

Hi Jim and welcome to ABR, if you wanna get opinions on other brands as well you can do a search in the forum. You'll find all sorts of comments on kit, most things have been discussed recently and opinions given of "the best" gloves, boots, helmets, coffee cups, luggage, camping stoves, tents, etc etc.

(Sorry for any repetition)-->
Kit - have a look at the W2 boots --> there's an ABR review on this very site.
Arai Touratech ... and something cheaper, if you are thinking of some rough and tumble outings....
Forcefield back protector/body armour ....
Have a look at the other reviews too.

Re: new to adventure bikes
Welcome Jim
I got a full armoured shirt from the Nec last year for £35, I had been looking at ones for £100 and this looked identical, I took a punt for the low cost and a year later I'm still very pleased with it, very comfortable too.
I have just bought a pair of w2 mx boots from the dirt bike show recently for £85, what a lot of boot for the money.
IMO, if you're planning on getting dirty playing off road, I wouldn't spend stupid money on textile suits, it will get wrecked, I'm still using a ixon textile suit that I bought 4 years ago, it also doubles as my winter gear on my sprint.
