Hi guys
motorbike riders are getting older, and we need to maintain our ability to detect danger, react quickly, and exert control in difficult situations. The good news is that aerobic training can do just that.
In fact, as posted on my blog, there is now lots of scientific evidence that aerobic training not only increases physical stamina. It also improves cognitive function. This effect is particularly evident in older subjects.
One more reason to keep fit
Cheers

i know you are trying to help, but that sh*t is for the women folk, they like doing all that stuff, maybe you younger guys like doing that sh*t too, but give us old school guys some credit, i maybe way past my best days, but i can still knock sh*t of the bag down the boxing gym and well able to give some of them younger lads a good run for their money too,
Re: How to maintain cognitive function in older age
Good for you. By the way, I am not talking about aerobic dancing. I am talking about any kind of aerobic training, including some of the training done by boxers.bull wrote:i know you are trying to help, but that sh*t is for the women folk, they like doing all that stuff, maybe you younger guys like doing that sh*t too, but give us old school guys some credit, i maybe way past my best days, but i can still knock sh*t of the bag down the boxing gym and well able to give some of them younger lads a good run for their money too,
Aerobic training is particularly useful for older people because, as we age, our aerobic fitness declines. Furthermore, as I reviewed in the last post on my blog, aerobic training can help maintain or even improve cognitive function in older people.
So there are two good reasons for older adventure bike riders do some aerobic training. not to mention the many positive effects on health.
Re: How to maintain cognitive function in older age
i think you missed my last point, maybe i did not say it very well. So, from what i have seen in the last 10 years us older people are in better shape and health than most of the young people around today. You dont need to tell us old guys how to take care of ourselves we know how to do that better than most young people. We have been there and bought the T shirt.
Re: How to maintain cognitive function in older age
i do 'brain training' figuring out which is the cheaper beer deal, then do repetitive aerobics lifting and lowering a glass of varying weight, while regularly rehydrating myself. Sometimes i intake a high energy sport fuel, of the 'curry' brand.
