Stoves - a waste of space!
Heresy I here you say, wash your mouth out with GUNK, condemn that man to ride a
NSU Quickly - can one do that - till the end of time.
Permit me to explain. For touring in Britain I do believe carrying a stove is
unnecessary as a cuppa and a bacon sarnie can be bought anywhere. Personally,
I prefer to break camp early and find my breakfast in the nearest town - most
have a bakery shop that have a restaurant area. However, I do have a stove
- Coleman 533 - and as a TV personality would say, it's Fab-u-lous. I mainly have
it as back up at home as I live in the country in an all electric house.
Forgiven??

No definitely not forgiven... off with his head. Many things in life are unneccessary but does that mean they shouldn't be done? What if you just like cooking?
I went to the Caribbean on holiday with my wife last year.
Jamaica?
No, she wanted to.

I presume by "touring Britain" you mean inside the M25? Unfortunately you'll struggle to find anywhere for coffee, tea or bacon "sarnie's" before lunchtime in the Highlands any day of the week far less a Sunday.Trevor Twobikes wrote:Heresy I here you say, wash your mouth out with GUNK, condemn that man to ride a

If you ever cross the border I'd suggest you bring your Coleman with you, or you'll look pretty stupid until lunchtime!
I'd rather sit outside my tent enjoying a nice cheap cup of coffee than pay a couple of quid for dishwater any way, my choice, and you are entitled to yours. Adventure? Aye, right.

I will 2nd that. My life wouldn't be worth living if I didn't make my beloved a coffee & a bacon butty. So in other words, if you live in the UK and if you're "touring" on your door-step in a well-populated area, a stove is a waste of time...Trevor Twobikes wrote:For touring in Britain I do believe carrying a stove is

I suppose that would have been tough to fit in the title bar...
TBF: to each their own touring-wise but, for me, my stove is a bit of space well spent...

On a recent ride to Plymouth with the missus we stopped for a burger and tea from a lay-by snack bar, disgusting and inedible

I'm a Tea head, no I'm not shaped like a pin with a flat head with a dent in it; as that is used by them there golifists and their bat thingies, I mean I do like my Tea in the morning time.
And after sampling tea in a lot of our nations flag flying lay by establishments I can report that about 50% disappoints.
The only truly drinkable tea IMO is purchased from vans that let you do your own brewing / bag dipping, and milking. The remainder alas are either too weak or over brewed to an extent that Tarmac would be proud to pass it off as a wearing course.
Get to the point.... Yes I will.... carry a burner when camping, for all the reasons given above, and you can guarentee that your tea or banjo is there for you i when you want it.
