If we're to put a massive tax on imports does that include all imports or only the ones where there's an option to buy a British manufactured alternative?

Should it also include services rather than just products because bought in services also stop that same work being done by British companies so we might as well alienate the whole World rather than just part of it (thumbs)

It's also going to be great fun when we can no longer afford to buy gas to heat our homes or produce electricity because that's mainly imported though fracking will cover some of the deficit but never mind, a few hard winters will soon stop the locals complaining. The best part will be telling overseas producers that we're slapping a bloody great big tariff on their products and we don't expect them to do the same to us

Brexit again! So the cost of foreign bikes will go up, the cost of foreign travel will go up.
Italian/Chinese Budget bike manufacturer has a wobble because the pound drops in value against the Euro.

Totaly agree. But I would go further, put a 40% tax on any imports including Triumph. Then it would make sense to buy British. As for Nissan and Honda either they are manufactured here or we won't be buying them. Same apllys to the Germans.

That means a Mortgage if you want to buy an Austrian Satsuma ???

South Korea put a 100% import duty on any imported car like BMW--and look where that has got them--Hyundai, Kia and so on--and Samsung , LG etc--government sponsored and industries developed into global brands from a country thats the same size as the UK with no real natural resources--been there--seen it in operation. The Message is--have confidence, buy British and slap import duty on stuff that compromises national interests and industries--and when out of EU control get the government to sponsor and support to the point that our goods are a "best buy" anywhere in the world.

Another post gets hey jacked by Brexit. But I honestly think if there were no BMW's or VW's or Honda's then british business men and women would start manufacturing a replacement, with a captive market it would be a no brainer. All the super rich (as in Turkey) could buy the super expensive foreign cars so that we still knew they were loaded,so doing would mean they would pay more taxes as well. Another plus would be that when manufacturing took off again we could then throw the bankers out!!

A lot of us ride KTM's on the dirt simply for the reason that they are very good at what they do and a lot of other bikes aren't as good.

My cousin has just bought a Kia 4x4, it's his 3rd, a very good car.
My wife had a Hyundai Santa Fe which she PX'd for an Audi A4 estate....big mistake.
Now we've got rid of BL, Rover etc.....lets start again!

Edit.....when I was in the USA recently I noticed the place is stuffed with Hyundais and Kia's.

AJP UK is still in business, run by Gwilym.
It's Garw Valley he has closed. So AJP UK will still import the bikes for the AJP dealer network and support those dealers, however they will not be dealing direct with the public so queries go through the dealer.

So I heard yesterday from another Dealer.
