it is interesting to see that last night bennetts updated their facebook page laying out what mods are allowed and what are subject to extra charges. Although many of the points they make , make sense, others do not such as crash bobbins and bar end weights.
IMHO bennets have shot them self in the foot and made the situation worse with piss poor staff training. reading as i do other forums, and seeing the amount of distrust voiced and the amount who have cancelled their policies I will be surprised if bennets survive this.
Bennetts three Mods rule!
Re: Bennetts three Mods rule!
Well, spare 1/2 hr or so, since my policy is due I thought I'd phone Bennetts and get a quote for investigative purposes.
Usual questions got to the mods bit.
went through the list twice
1) Heated Grips
2) Handle bar guards
3) Sat Nav
4) Engine guard
5) Top box
(no distinction between accessories / mods etc).
Put on hold for 2 or three minutes with jingly music
and the questions continued until I was quoted £162.
No mention of all the aforementioned problems. Interesting / curious.
It is is £40 or so more quid than my current renewal but I haven't been thro' the mods process with them yet !
Maybe the message is sinking in ?

Re: Bennetts three Mods rule!
I've had a good look through all info I can find on my Ebike policy from Northern rock and can't find any mods info, although it does mention tank bags and luggage racks are accessories not modifications.
I haven't been with Bennetts for years now, Ebike have always given a good service including their UK recovery and optional European recovery covering all my bikes on one policy I can't fault them.
I hope they manage to survive this but remain sceptical.

Probably not.... Every time you put a sticker on or a different bolt or take the top box off.... do you really want to notify them?Mul001 wrote:Well, spare 1/2 hr or so, since my policy is due I thought I'd phone Bennetts and get a quote for investigative purposes.

These sort of accessories you really should not have to notify anyone about....

Re: Bennetts three Mods rule!
After cancelling my insurance I receive FOUR envelopes in the post from Close Premium Finance (the people who arrange the installments) and I set about opening them....
E1 confirms that my account has been cancelled in ref to Bennetts insurance.
E2 As above.
E3 As above.
E4 As above.
Somebody must have known that they printed off the same cancellation letter FOUR times. They must also know that somebody put one of each letter into separate envelopes and sent them to my address.
So, how come nobody knew they were telling me what I already knew after reading the first letter, a further 3 times?
Paper wastage.....jeeeez!
That would surely have cost £120.00 in admin fees had it come from Bennetts!
