Do hippohands differ from handlebar muffs such as oxford handlebar muffs?

i had some Oxford bar muffs...they nearly killed me.

Overtaking a lorry when the left one folded in under the force of accleration (even tho i barely opened her up)....it pinned my clutch to the back of my hand which in turn pinned my hand to my grip. Not nice.

but....keep ya hands mega toasty warm, just a mild risk of death involved using them though :P
