Keep the *Strom, out the *Divvy and get the KTM, simples.
*info taken from your profile, if its not up to date then get the KTM anyway.

Don't mean to sound rude but I've never understood why anyone would choose a bike on a straw poll of numpties on the internet.
You know what your budget is, you know what you want to do with the bike, you know your abilities/limitations/experience, you've probably ridden your shortlist (if you haven't then get on with it!). In other words get what you like best and sod the rest of us! So long as it's the GSA that is

If you're looking to go with the crowd go for the GS - it's popular because it has a great heritage, looks good and C & E used them. Also relatively good dealer back up.
If you're looking for a little more excitement go for the KTM but try and find out if your local dealer is any good first.

Bikes are very subjective, everyone has different likes and dislikes.
I have a GSA which I am very pleased with but I moved to it from a Tiger 1050 and never even considered a KTM. The only thing that concerns me with the GSA is the seat height which I am getting used to but it still catches me out once in a while if I forget to drop the ESA (electric suspension adjustment) down from sport setting (about 2 inches higher) before stopping. I havent dropped it but it has come close.
Suggest you try them both out and decide.

They're very different bikes. If you think you're going to be doing a lot of 2 up touring on tarmac with the odd bit of dirt thrown in get the beemer. However if you're likely to be riding more on dirt than tar and don't have to lug the wife with you get the KTM. Or maybe you don't WANT to take the wife with you, in which case get the KTM anyway.
Hypothetically speaking of course

One answer - get a test ride!
Take them out for at least an hour and try them on different roads, in traffic, even on the Hypothetical Highway  etc. You could be surprised at which one you prefer.
Life is cruel: The one that gives you the biggest giggle is usually the one that you have irrational doubts about owning
