My son has one and its taken a lot of work to get "right"-----remapped and the secondary air system removed----the Dynojet fitted by CCM didn't cut it. It now starts hot or cold and doesn't run on in traffic. Side tank hoses and connections replaced with SELF SEALING connectors so that you don't have to support the side tank or drain it--it can run without either of the side tanks connected--makes getting at the air cleaner etc much easier. DMD breather fitted venting from the cam cover so that more oil can be carried without issues. All wiring under the front nacelle redone with proper connectors so that removal is much easier. Accessories powered from a proper fused and relayed distribution board. Thermobob fitted to provide a proper bypass and thermostat to maintain a constant engine temperature and aid quicker warm up. All stuff that really should have been done by CCM. When they are right they are about as close as you can get to a Unicorn bike as the chassis, weight and suspension are spot on.,

I had an Armstrong CCM MX bike in the early '90s, purchased secondhand and in v.poor condition.
The original Mr Clews could not have been more helpful in assisting it's rebuild and fettling.
It became a really good machine with his help.

Fast forward to the early days of the GP450. Visited the factory to inspect and test ride the 450.
Both of us planning to place order if all seemed ok.
Loved the tech innovation of the bike and the test ride was fine.
Ultimately decided not to place orders because of the sales pitch and ridiculous accessory pricing.

We dodged a bullet there, given the subsequent issues owners later faced.

IMO CCM lost the plot when they abandoned the GP450 for those ridiculous poseur bikes - Spitfires and whatever.

I test rode a 450 from the factory, and was then invited some time later to a test ride day in South Shropshire. As a long distance trail bike aka ADV, I felt it was lacking, not least at the cost of the extras as you say, but also the bike seemed too enduro orientated.... For sure, the 2nd test day (on a route I knew) was definitely pitched at that sort of buyer. I did not like the motor, and felt it was not what was needed for me.

I was keen to buy one, but as you said, I "dodged the bullet" when the problem started to appear, and naff all support from CCM.
