No bikes in the frame sorry

Do those 'legs' go through the boat into the sea to become a platform?
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Those 'legs' are more likely drilling towers. The boat will always float as a boat. You are probably referring to a 'jack-up' rig.
These usually have 3 legs arranged in a triangular shape, which the deck of the platform sits on. Once in position the legs are lowered
to the seabed and the platform 'jacked-up' above sea level or the platform, for which they will drill the wells.

Picture of the Jack-up Maersk Intrepid jacked-up over a fixed platform whilst drilling it's wells.
The drilling rig extends out over the fixed platform, to drill it's wells.

Had to venture across Sheffield, came home the back way.
There are now views along The Strines that are there for the first time in about 40 or 50 years because of the deforestation of the pines.
