My favourite is the walk up to the top of Cader Idris from the valley floor, and the moment you hike over the top of a rise and see the amazing glacial tarn (cwm) in front of you. I even swam in it once (which shrunk a few things, for sure...). What a stunning place.

Impressed, Dave .. never walked up there …. but I broke down on the A470 near there on my then Fireblade, if that counts at all

Sorry to inject negative vibes and all that.....If your mainly into roads then yes its fabulous in Wales, but if you enjoy trail riding legally then Wales and most of the UK sucks massively

2 words...."Gates" and "Farmers"

(I was born and bred in Wales and having been lucky enough to ride elsewhere, there are far far better places to ride dirt)

I can understand the negative note, as legal trails are difficult to find, and sometimes many miles away ……………….. but mid wales as plenty .. and fab ones too.

.. so what would you consider "far far better places to ride dirt" ... intrestested to know

I reckon probably anywhere outside the UK
But personly speaking, California is brilliant, they have thousands of acres set aside specifically for recreational vehicle use, you just need a sticker and a spark arrestor on your bike, no plateno tax nuffink.
France has some major miles that may or may not be strictly legal but nobody seems to worry, Spain is a little strictor but you wont be stopping every mile for a bleeding gate or some illegal obstruction the arsey farmer put up because he thinks having grazing rights means he owns the place.
Peru is probably great too but I only had a mountain bike with me and couldnt find moto-hire (20 years ago so who knows now)

Nice 954. I've had a couple of those and I raced a 929 in the KRC Endurance series for a season. Really good sports bikes. If I was in the market for a Blade right now, even with enough cash for a new one I would probably prefer a 954.

Next time you're in mid-wales/southern snowdonia, try the hike up Cader Idris. If the weather's OK it's not difficult at all. Trainers and jeans if it's dry. But the reward at the top is superb. What I call 'soul food'.

I was never up to `race` standard .. but was always amazed by the performance and handling and especially the braking of my old 2004 954 … would still have it if the engine didnt crack

was just looking for my breakdown pics at cader idris … can't seem to find them …. ??

perhaps `one day` I may get to the top od cader idris … at the moment pen y fan is a short term goal, but I need to get fit again

I thought that (Lynwood Garage) Peugeot and trailer looked familiar .... they, or their successors, recovered me to a tyres place in Aberystwyth when I had a (big) puncture near Aberaeron a couple of years ago. Efficient and friendly.
And I suspect your "pickup point" is at/near the Dol Idris carpark... spent a while there last October when "transport manager" for some friends doing a longish walk in the area. Lovely part of the world.
