When I registered off the email link there was no terms or conditions about user names or real names being broadcast on an open forum.
Poor show really . Bunch of Muppets imo
Aye - you just went in under your old username and registered
Then they changed it without your consent
Now they have stated real names only
If they don't delete my record 'toute de suite' then I will be reporting them to the Information Commissioner for a data breach as their terms were not stated at time of registration originally

It's gone as dead as a doornail now.
Has everyone given up (for now at least)?

Probably because as it stands, there’s no real difference between it and the main TRF FB page.

Never been on the TRF Facebook only used the old forum to book rides. Done about 30 rides all over England Wales this year.
Only wanna ride a bike and have access to some kind of private contact with fellow riders.
I thought that's what it's all about. Not driving us apart

"what its all about" .. I thought .. was preserving our trails for us to use,
.. (and providing a platform for meets, to use them)

this is achieved by donations and fees and fundraising .. to provide a `fighting fund` for barristers, and for maintenance materials, and PR work ? ?

probably the main (high profile) thing is the lobbying of MPs and AMs towards our cause ..

.. this is achieved mainly through letters and petitions

.. these must have your names and personal info on them ? ? ?

.. so I don't really see the argument for NOT displaying names on websites ? ?

if you are riding legally, what are you worried about?

tho I can understand that people want to support the cause, but not put their heads above the parapet for fear of recrimination.

.. .. .. (this does not mean I agree with dictatorship, rudeness, or press control)

Part of the reason the TRF appears paranoid about its forum (and the new site has already generated a lot of controversy) is not so much about what we as adventure/trail motorcyclists say to one another but how the "anti's" like GLEAM, Rambliars, Peak Horse Power et al and finally Parliament lift off material from social media and use it to demonstrate that we are a bunch of hooligans and irresponsible idiots and need at worst to be limited to tarmac and preferably banned outright. Its a bit different for ABR as its a focussed around a magazine and is not, like the TRF a road conservation organisation. Running a social media forum is not its raison d'etre . There are better places to go.
This happened as the NERC Bill was going through Parliament and it stitched us all up nicely = Restricted Byways = virtual Bridleways = less m/c access.
I wonder why we all spend much time on these sort of posts as I thought we were about ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLING.
My motto is "Spend less time on the keyboard complaining and go and ride your bike more".
I may not bother to read the subsequent and inevitable abuse .....

For myself. . I can understand the argument for care in posting.
Perhaps it is just a matter of (civil ) communication. and 'getting on side'.
Plus the development of a suitable website which is secure for member-only interaction. Tho vetting of members is no doubt difficult.

You spent a lot of time on the keyboard with that one SN and maybe spent days thinking it up. You will never change the minds of people who are anti bikers the same as you have your views on members privacy.
TRF HAVE MEMBERS DETAILS WE JUST WANT A DISPLAY NAME.

YOU STATED ON THE TRF WEBPAGE WE ARE ALL SAD POSTING ON HERE AND HERE YOU ARE??? SAY NO MORE.
