The polite vests do serve a purpose, as long as your not going out to impersonate a police officer and or intimidate other road users they get you noticed.

Personally i got some for two of the biking kids one for my good lady wife and one for myself however I've never worn mine, the Triumph Hi Vis Expedition Jacket gets me noticed anyway.
