Collecting a new Freeride on Saturday from Triple D.
Spent years on various sportsbikes then had quads for years trail riding and exploring our great hills and mountains?
Back to road riding and bought a Ducati Monster 1100s then a new KTM 990 Adventure in 2014. The 990 won't be ever leaving me.
Dabbled a bit with trials bikes but got bored with them and preffered the trail riding.
Who has a Freeride and what's your experience with it.
Some of my friends were trying to get me to buy an EXC but I didn't want anything as extreme ? Maybe I'll get bored with the Freeride and trade it for an enduro.

Re: KTM Freeride 350
How old is it? You have to throw a lot of money at them when they hit 4 year old. My dad's has been nothing but bother for the last year, 3 or 4 others in out TRF group that are playing up in one way or another. Hope you have better luck.
Re: KTM Freeride 350
There has been a lot of discussion about the Freeride on a variety of forums, look up the TRF or KTM forum, most of what you want to know is well covered there. If you really want a 'warts an all ' view go on YouTube and look up 'living the dream' he has made around 4-5 animated videos that cover all of the issues with starting !!!!!!!
Good luck :pinch:

Re: KTM Freeride 350
I don't want to be horrible about anyone's choice of bike, but I know a few people who snapped there up when they were a new model and none of them kept them for long.
The actual concept of the bike is fantastic...the execution is a bit flakey.

Re: KTM Freeride 350
They seem to have fallen out of favour with my local KTM dealer--even the new one--the two stroke is best I think. However, a great concept, but with so little fuel on board its a handicap unless you have trails in your backyard. I'm resurrecting a Kawasaki super sherpa(grey import), which is a better version of the same idea (IMHO)--even Kawa have had to RELAUNCH them in the US--and they are popular in Russia--and that says it all--keep it simple, stupid rules!

Re: KTM Freeride 350
I totally agree with this. Four of us bought new bikes last year. Three mates bought 250 Freerides and I bought an Xtrainer. All three Freerides were sold within 6 months but I've still got the Beta. The Freerides were excellent on very tight going (if you could get them to start) but the Beta was better everywhere else. If you want something more trials based I'd get a Pampera.halfpint wrote:if you can back out of the deal and spend your money else , beta xtrainer will piss all over it. you will drop money like a stone ktm dont even want them back in a trade in ......

Re: KTM Freeride 350
My dad went and bought a X trainer after 6 months of grief from his Freeride. He still has the Freeride which now seems to be running ok after months at the dealers.

In the interests of balance, I've had a Freeride 350 for 3.5 years and I love it (no plans to sell).
I rode an XR400 for 8 years before and in comparison riding the freeride is so easy it feels like cheating.
Sure for the many riding legends out there other bikes might be faster, but i don't want a bike that'll scare the crap out of me, i want one that will make me a better rider.
Only gripe from me is i could use more fuel range.
Enjoy!

Nice little bike
Will go places your average enduro won't
It's not a lightweight 350exc and you need to give it a fair chance
I'd nearly wager you won't like it for the first few spins
Then it grows on you
Mines not for sal6 (thumbs)
