Morning all,
I'm looking at heading to Budapest this year on my bike. Can anyone recommend a good place to stay with secure parking in the city or with good links into the city. Looking at using it for a rest day one a 2 week trip.

Re: BudaPest
My son lived there for 6 years and I visited regularly. A mix of flying over, hiring car and even driving over.
A very inexpensive city but accessible to some from further east........
IBIS is a good call and some of the chain hotels there are good value. Buda side of the city is more expensive but its so worth a visit and take an evening dinner cruise on the Danube.
In summer a lot of apartments on the Pest side become available, like where my son was they had it for the full time they were in college and it sat empty for a lot July and August apart from some of us visiting. A web search will show these up. These apartments generally are in 4/5 storey blocks have a ground level courtyard you can park a bike in quite safely. Worth a look as they can be cheap, some of the hotels are trendy and prices reflect that. There are also quite a few car parks around and when I drove over I left the car in one for the time I was there. A full days parking wouldn't have paid for a an hours parking in London.
Lots of tram lines in the road and cobble areas, careful on the bike there. But you will notice one thing....no big trucks or artics, banned!!

Re: BudaPest
Check out 'bikercamp Budapest'. As well as having room for tents they also have a few rooms. All in a safe walled area, just a 10 min walk from a metro station. We had a great 3 night stop here, allowed us to leave the bike and explore the city.
